2009 Cardinals Caravan a hit
MEMPHIS - This past Monday, the Redbirds hosted the annual Cardinals Caravan at AutoZone Park, an event for fans to interact with current and former Cardinals players about their experiences in baseball. This year's Caravan welcomed over 300 attendees who participated in a question and answer session with the players to discuss the past and upcoming season. Players were available to meet fans and sign autographs. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to win door prizes featuring Cardinals apparel and ticket packages.
This year's Caravan featured former Redbirds Joe Mather, Jason Motte, and Brian Barton, as well as Brett Wallace, the Cardinals first round pick in last summer's draft. Former Cardinals Kerry Robinson and Ken Reitz also joined the Caravan, as well as Cardinals announcer Jay Randolph. Mather, Motte, and Barton all made their major league debuts last season after spending some time in Memphis. Robinson was a member of the 2001 Redbirds squad and divided time between Memphis and St. Louis during the 2003 season. Reitz is a former All-Star and Gold Glove winner who played eight of his 11 major league seasons with the Cardinals.
