May 27, 2009
SALT LAKE CITY - On Saturday, May 30, Bumble and friends will participate in the first annual Mascots vs. Knothole Club All-Stars Game at Spring Mobile Ballpark. The game will begin at 4 p.m. with the gates opening at 3:45 p.m. The Bees will later play a doubleheader against the Reno Aces at 5:05 p.m.

The first-ever sandlot duel between the Knothole Club All-Stars and local mascots is in recognition of Knothole Club members who exhibit good sportsmanship. Utah cities represented by the Knothole Club All-Stars include Beaver, Brigham City, Eagle Mountain, Eureka, Santaquin, South Salt Lake, South Weber, Tremonton and Basin Recreation.

Mascots participating in the game along with Bumble will be the Flash Fox from the Utah Flash, Grizzbee from the Utah Grizzlies, Hootz from the Orem Owlz, Oggie from the Ogden Raptors, Cosmo from BYU, Swoop from the University of Utah, Big Blue from Utah State University, Wolverine from Utah Valley University, and Bruin Bear from Salt Lake Community College.

In addition to the game, there will be photo and autograph opportunities with the mascots, who will remain at the ballpark to entertain fans through the Bees first game of the 5:05 p.m. doubleheader.

Earlier Saturday morning, the Knothole Club will hold its first player clinic of the season at Spring Mobile Ballpark from 9 to 11 a.m. The Club will hold another player clinic for members on August 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. For the third consecutive season, members will have the chance to participate in baseball drills with Bees players and also receive autographs.

"The Knothole Club has grown into one of the largest of its kind in the Pacific Coast League in just four seasons. We are pleased to continue providing kids the opportunity to learn from our players and, most of all, have fun at such a great ballpark," said Salt Lake Bees General Manager Marc Amicone.

Sponsored by Wendy's, Knothole Club memberships cost $10 per season and are available for kids ages 12 and under. Benefits include a ticket voucher to a Salt Lake Bees game, a Salt Lake Bees t-shirt, a membership ID card entitling the holder to $5 discounted Bees tickets and a free frosty from any Wasatch Front Wendy's location. Membership also allows for opportunities to meet Bees players.

Youth baseball organizations have the option of enrolling their entire league in the Knothole Club. Salt Lake Bees t-shirts, jerseys and/or hats can be purchased for use as uniforms at a reduced price.

Individual memberships can be purchased online at www.slbees.com or at Bees home games at Spring Mobile Ballpark. Baseball team memberships can be arranged by contacting Nate Martinez at (801) 325-2573.
