Iowa Cubs Head to Wrigley Field August 9
The "Road to Wrigley", presented by National City, will include family-friendly priced tickets, an array of activities for children of all ages and a fun atmosphere filled with traditional minor league attractions within the Friendly Confines.
"We are very excited about the opportunity the Cubs have provided us to showcase triple-A baseball in the premier venue in all of sports," said Iowa Cubs General Manager Sam Bernabe.
On July 29, 2008, the first "Road to Wrigley" drew 32,103 fans to Wrigley Field for an official Single-A Midwest League contest between the Peoria Chiefs and Kane County Cougars.
Fans attending the "Road to Wrigley" will have the opportunity to participate in a number of traditional minor league ballpark activities, such as dizzy bat races, t-shirt tosses and the opportunity for all kids 14-years-and-younger to run the Wrigley Field bases at the end of the game.
Fans will also be entertained between innings by mascots and an assortment of other fun characters who regularly perform at minor league other ballparks, such as Birdzerk and the Zooperstars.
Iowa is in its 29th season of affiliation with the Chicago Cubs. Led by manager Bobby Dickerson, the club owns a 22-21 record, tied for second place in the Pacific Coast League American Northern Division and just 1.5 games out of first place.
