Fort Wayne, Ind.-Maxx Tissenbaum's base hit to center field with one out in the bottom of the 12th inning brought in Mallex Smith from second base with the winning run, breaking a scoreless tie as the Fort Wayne TinCaps topped the Dayton Dragons 1-0 on Saturday night. The win was Fort Wayne's sixth straight as they improved to 37-23. The Dragons fell to 26-35.
Fort Wayne had not put a runner on base since the sixth inning when they came to bat in the 12th. Smith led off with a bunt single and went to second on Alberth Martinez's sacrifice. Tissenbaum followed with a ground ball through the middle. Dayton center fielder Beau Amaral charged and made a strong, accurate throw to the plate, but Smith beat Joe Hudson's tag to end the game.
The Dragons had a great chance to take the lead in the 11th inning when they loaded the bases with no one out on a lead-off single by Brent Peterson followed by back-to-back misplayed bunts. But TinCaps reliever Chris Nunn struck out Jeff Gelalich and then got Jesse Winker to ground into a double play to end the threat.
Dragons starting pitcher Robert Stephenson fired seven shutout innings. He gave up three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts. The game was the continuation of a great stretch for Stephenson. Over his last six starts, he is 4-0 with a 0.93 ERA, with five walks and 50 strikeouts.

Bender (0-2) was charged with the loss, going four and one-third innings, allowing two hits and one run with no walks and three strikeouts.
The Dragons finished with six hits, all singles by six different players. Joe Hudson reached base three times with a hit and two walks.
