Indians announce 2009 promotions schedule

Opening Night fireworks kick-off season full of events

INDIANAPOLIS -- Eight Friday Night Fireworks shows, 10 Souvenir Sundays and 11 Spectacular Saturdays highlight the Indians 2009 promotional schedule. Other returning promotions include 12 Monday Dollar Menu games, six Wednesday Business Day affairs, and nine Thursday Ticketmaster Family Nights.

The first 4,000 fans will receive a special item from the Indians on all Souvenir Sundays during the upcoming campaign. The list includes an Indians Wall Calendar (April 12), "Reusable" Shopping Bag (May 3), Souvenir T-Shirt (May 17), Flip Flops (May 31), Souvenir Cap (June 14), Wiffleball Bat (July 28), Indians Team Card Set (July 5), Nate McLouth Bobblehead (July 26), Indians Backpack (Aug. 9) and Rowdie Soap Dispenser (Aug. 23).

11 gameday entertainment events make their way to Victory Field on Spectacular Saturdays this season. The events include Mascot Mania (April 11), Rally (May 2), Quick Change (May 16), Dancin' Bat Boy McCoy (May 30), The Bucket Boys (June 13), The ZOOperstars! (June 27 & Aug. 22), Fourth of July Fireworks (July 4), The Famous San Diego Chicken (July 25), BirdZerk! (Aug. 8) and the annual Sky Concert event (Sept. 5).

In addition to eight Friday Night Fireworks shows, (May 5 & 29, June 5 & 12, July 24, Aug. 7 & 21, Sept. 4) Victory field will also feature fireworks on Opening Night (Thu. April 9) and the Fourth of July (Sat. July 4). Along with post-game fireworks on July 24 the Pirate Parrot will be on hand to entertain fans.

The Monday Dollar Menu (April 13, May 4 & 18, June 1, 15 & 29, July 6, 20 & 27, Aug. 10, 24 & 31) returns for a sixth straight season, while six Wednesday Business Day games (May 6, June 3 & 17, July 22, Aug. 12 & 26) will be held at a new 1 p.m. start time.

The popular Baseball in Education program also continues in 2009 as students will have three opportunities (April 15, May 7 & 19) to apply their classroom curriculum to a baseball setting during the 11 a.m. weekday games.

Children 14-and-under can enjoy "Baseball Up Close" all season long by joining the Community Health/WISH-TV Knot Hole Kids Club for just $14. Adults can get in on the action by purchasing a full-season ticket, half-season ticket, mini plan or 20-ticket flex plans.

The Indians open the 2009 season on Thursday, April 9 at Victory Field against their division rivals the Toledo Mud Hens. Season tickets are on sale now at www.IndyIndians.com or by calling the Victory Field Box at 317-269-3545, individual game tickets go on sale Tuesday, March 3.
