Mobile Wins Wild One on Thursday
Mobile, Ala. - In a back-and-forth affair that featured three lead changes, warnings for both benches and a lineup card mistake, the Mobile BayBears (28-20) scored six two-out runs for a 6-4 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (23-25) in front of 3,765 Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Mobile starter Jarrod Parker (3-2) picked up the win, giving up four runs, three earned, and six hits over five innings of work. Jacksonville starter Graham Taylor (2-4) allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits over four and two-thirds innings in the loss. BayBears closer Scott Maine (5) saved the game with a perfect ninth inning.
The BayBears took the lead in the first inning on an unearned run. A two out error allowed Ricardo Sosa to reach base, while Orlando Mercado later singled to drive him in for a 1-0 score. Jacksonville tied the game in the third inning on an unearned run, as Scott Cousins scored on a two-out throwing error from the Mobile third baseman Sosa for a 1-1 score.
Jacksonville took the lead in the fourth inning as Ryan Klosterman singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and scored on a throwing error by the catcher for a 2-1 Suns advantage. The Suns added to the lead in the fifth inning when Klosterman singled home Lee Mitchell for a 3-1 score. Bryan Petersen later scored on a wild pitch for a 4-1 score.
Mobile took the lead back over in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out, Ricardo Sosa was hit by a pitch by Suns starter Graham Taylor.
