Jeff Garber To Manage Again
Burlington, VT - The all-time wins leader in Blue Rocks managerial history, Jeff Garber (1999-2002), will return to the managerial ranks in 2009, skippering the Short-Season Vermont Lake Monsters (NYP) in the Washington Nationals system. Garber spent six seasons as a manager in the Kansas City organization from 1997-2002, managing at Single-A Spokane from 1997-98 before leading the Blue Rocks to 317 wins from 1999-2002. In 1999, Garber championed the Blue Rocks to their most recent Carolina League title, a shared Mills Cup crown with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
Garber, 42, spent last year as Washington's minor league field coordinator. Before the Lake Monsters' season starts in June, Garber will help out as a minor league spring training coordinator / infield coordinator. Prior to joining the Nationals, Garber spent 20 years in the Kansas City Royals organization as a player, coach and manager.
Selected by Kansas City in the 10th round of the 1988 draft, Garber played in the Royals minor league system from 1988-95. In 2000 he was honored by Kansas City with the Dick Howser award for contributions to the Royals organization.
