Alex Cora Joins Bisons on MLB Rehab

Infielder had torn ligament in right thumb

The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, today announced that Mets INF Alex Cora has joined the team on a major league rehab assignment.

The Mets placed Cora on the disabled list on May 18 with a torn ligament in his right thumb.

Cora has hit .333 (17-51) with four doubles, a triple and four RBI in 26 games with the Mets this year. He last played on May 17 against the San Francisco Giants.

Cora spent most of last season with the Red Sox and hit .270 (41-152) with nine RBI in 75 games with Boston. He entered the 2009 season with 1,034 career major league games with the Dodgers, Indians and Red Sox.
