Tinkersons Bobble, Fireworks & Fur Circus Populate Homestand
CURVE, Pa. - Gone for just a few days, the Curve are back for some more fun and entertainment in Curve, Pa. beginning this Friday when the Trenton Thunder roll into town. The homestand features another bobblehead giveaway, a pair of fireworks shows, a Party Pack series giveaway and a one of the newest and freshest travelling acts in Minor League Baseball.
The Curve's 7 p.m. match-up with Trenton on Friday will feature the Take it From the Tinkersons Bobblehead Giveaway courtesy of the Altoona Mirror. The first 1,000 fans to the ballpark will receive a bobblehead of Tillman Tinkerson, a character in Altoona-native Bill Bettwy's nationally syndicated comic strip Take it from the Tinkersons. The comic focuses on the Tinkersons, a family that learns things the hard way so you don't have to. In addition to being a syndicated cartoonist, Bettwy is the Director of Brand and Mascot Development for the Curve.
Friday night is also T.G.I. Friday's Mug Club Night. The first 250 fans age 21 or older to exit the park after the game will receive a free T.G.I. Friday's mug. After the game, two Curve players will sign autographs and meet fans at T.G.I. Friday's on Plank Road.
Saturday night's 6 p.m. game will be highlighted by an appearance by the Fur Circus thanks to WTAJ-TV. The Fur Circus is run by Ringmaster Rizzo, who knows how to direct his animals for family silliness and fun. Buddy the Blue Bear is loveable and friendly. The only thing he likes more than making friends is eating food. Splash the Elephant never grew quite as big as the other elephants, but he makes up for it with his excellent balance and impressive tricks. Also, watch out for water in his trunk--they don't call him Splash for nothing. Myles is "an exceptionally talented dancing machine, stunt monkey and athlete." With all these characters in one place, it's easy to see how the Fur Circus will be a crazy good time.
In addition to the fun of the Fur Circus on Saturday, the game will also serve as the first Scout Night of the season. Scout troops are encouraged to come out as a group to Saturday night's game. Scout groups will then have the opportunity to camp out on the field after the game and take in a movie on the Curve, Pa. video board following the game. For more information on bringing your scout group out to the ballpark, fans can call 877.99.CURVE
Saturday night's game is also Allegany County, Md. Night and EMS Appreciation Night.
Fans looking to celebrate Father's Day can do so with the Curve and a 6 p.m. game with the Trenton Thunder on Sunday. Sunday Night Fireworks presented by Panera Bread follow the final game of the series with the Thunder. It's also Indiana County Night.
Additionally, kids can run the bases after each of the games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
After a day off on Monday, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats come to town on Tuesday. The three-game series kicks off with a Two-For-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband at 7 p.m. Tickets, hot dogs, and small popcorns will all be sold as two-for-the-price-of-one specials for the first game with the 'Cats.
Since the Curve could not become the Coasters last homestand because of a rainout, they'll turn into the Coasters for the Two-for-Tuesday game. The team will wear the limited edition Altoona Coasters jerseys thanks to Beck's Maintenance & Landscaping on Tuesday for the game with the Fisher Cats. Fans will have an opportunity to bid on the game-used jerseys during the game on Tuesday with a portion of the proceeds from the jersey auction benefitting Dreams Go On.
The June 19 game is a Four-Pack Wednesday with a special edition of postgame fireworks thrown in for the mix in the 7 p.m. tilt. Fans can buy four tickets, four hot dogs, and four regular sodas for only $35 at the game thanks to WALY 103.9, which also doubles as Cresson Community Night.
The final game of the homestand on Thursday at 7 p.m. is the first Altoona Curve Party Pack Series Giveaway. The Kings of Curve, Pa. Playing Card Set presented by Third Shift Lager, which features former Curve standouts Pedro Alvarez, Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker, will be handed out to the first 500 fans over the age of 21.
Fans who pick up all four Party Pack Series Giveaways throughout the season will be entered into a drawing for the the Altoona Curve Tailgating Package giveaway at the August 31 Curve game. Thursday night's game is also a Thirsty ThursdayTM, presented by Rocky 104.9. Fans can purchase 16oz. Miller Lite drafts for $2 and get half-priced 22oz. sodas.
