'Dragon Slayer' Returns

February 5, 2009
Josh Fogg, the man Colorado Rockies fans so affectionately loved during the team's miraculous run to the World Series during the 2007 season, is back. Dubbed the 'Dragon Slayer' for his performances against some of the best pitchers in MLB, Fogg and the Rockies agreed to a minor league contract along with an invite to spring training on Monday.

Fogg was a key component of the Rockies World Series team. Late in the 2007 season he went up against, and beat, the likes of Brandon Webb and Brad Penny. He also started for the Rockies in the play-in game against San Diego's Jake Peavy.

In February of 2008 Fogg signed a free agent deal with the Cincinnati Reds; unfortunately, Fogg went 2-7 with a 7.58 E.R.A. for the Reds last season before being placed on the disabled list in September.

Hopefully, by rejoining the club, where he enjoyed his most success, Fogg will be rejuvenated and fans will see the resurgence of the 'Dragon Slayer'.

Fogg will have to battle Franklin Morales, Glendon Rusch, Greg Reynolds, Jorge De La Rosa, Greg Smith, Jason Hirsh and Matt Belisle for a spot in the Rockies rotation. If he does not earn a spot in the rotation, Fogg will be suiting up for the Sky Sox just as he did in a 2007 rehab assignment where he pitched 5 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 6 hits to go along with 3 strikeouts.
