SYRACUSE (NY) - The Syracuse SkyChiefs improved to 9-1 this spring defeating the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons 10-2 at the Phillies Complex in Clearwater, Florida Saturday.

John Hattig paced the SkyChiefs offensive attack with three doubles and three runs batted in. Rob Cosby and Justin Singleton had two hits a piece for Syracuse.

David Purcey started on the mound for Syracuse tossing three and a third innings allowing three hits and two runs while striking out five Red Barons. The SkyChiefs bullpen combined for four and two thirds innings of scoreless relief.

The SkyChiefs (9-1) enjoy and off day tomorrow and play host to the Columbus Clippers at 1:00 PM on Monday at the Blue Jays Complex in Dunedin Florida.
