February 9, 2009
JACKSON, Tenn. -- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx will host the 2011 Southern League All-Star Game, marking the second time in team history Pringles Park will hold the event. The location was selected in Las Vegas, Nev. during the December 2008 Winter Meetings.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the 2011 Southern League All-Star Game here in Jackson, Tenn.," said Diamond Jaxx general manager Tom Hanson. "It will be a huge event for our entire community."

In 1999, when Pringles Park last hosted the Southern League's Midsummer Classic, the West beat the team from the Eastern Division, 5-2. Joe Crede, then with the Birmingham Barons and currently a Major League Baseball free agent, and Orioles slugger Aubrey Huff both participated in 1999, but Barons outfielder Jeff Inglin was the game's MVP.

"In 1999, it was a huge success," said Hanson.

"In these tough economic times, it is great to be able to host events such as this that will have a significant economic impact on our community."

Regions Park, in Birmingham, will be the site of the 2009 All-Star Game, and Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville will have the honor in 2010.

"President Don Mincher and I are excited about West Tenn hosting the 2011 Southern League All-Star Game," said Lori Webb, vice president of operations for the Southern League.

"This game will be showcasing the stars of tomorrow, and it will be a great opportunity for fans to enjoy their favorite Southern League players all in one place."
