He led the circuit with a .403 batting average, 110 hits, 64 runs scored and 65 RBI in 67 games. After the season, Eric was named the league's Most Valuable Player and a post-season all-star.

Eric also played with the El Paso Diablos (1982-83) of the Double-A Texas League and the Vancouver Canadians (1984) of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League during his playing career. Current Padres roving hitting instructor Tony Muser was Eric's manager at both the Double-A and Triple-A level. Eric and his girlfriend Annetta Paul currently reside in Temecula, CA. Eric is the proud parent of four children.

Patrick enters his second season in the Padres organization after guiding the Peoria Padres pitching staff in 2008. Patrick was originally selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 23rd round of the 1988 First Year Player Draft. The righty pitched in parts of two major League seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers (1998) and San Francisco Giants (1999). Following his MLB career, Patrick pitched in the Mexican League and Chinese Professional Baseball League. He has two sons, Tavian and Kilian, and one daughter, Jayden.
