Demny, Bloxom Power Sens Over Bowie 9-1

Bowie, MD- Justin Bloxom homered and Paul Demny tossed seven shutout innings to lead the Harrisburg Senators over the Bowie Baysox 9-1 in the series opener.

The Senators scored a pair of runs in the second inning off knuckleballer Eddie Gamboa to jump in front. Brian Goodwin delivered an RBI double and Harrisburg also took advantage of three wild pitches in the inning by Gamboa.

In the sixth, the Senators put up a four-spot to break open the game. Jimmy Van Ostrand came through with a two-run single before Bloxom uncorked a two-run shot, his fifth home run of the season. Harrisburg added three runs in the ninth, highlighted by a bases-loaded RBI single from Goodwin.

Demny gave up just one hit in his seven innings of work, a single to Caleb Joseph in the second. The right-hander struck out six and earned his fifth win.
