Redmond Takes the Hill in Rochester

Redmond will look for his first win since May 4
June 2, 2009

The Rochester Red Wings host the Gwinnett Braves Thursday at Frontier Park at 7:05 p.m. G-Braves righty Todd Redmond (2-4, 4.38 ERA) will face left-hander Jason Jones (1-4, 5.84 ERA).

Redmond hasn't won a game since May 4, but he was impressive in his last start. Against Syracuse on May 30, Redmond allowed one earned run on five hits in eight innings. The G-Braves won 2-1, but reliever Francisley Bueno was credited with the win for tossing a scoreless ninth.

After a flurry of roster moves Wednesday evening, the G-Braves lineup remains relatively intact. Although Brian Barton (.250, 28-112) and Gregor Blanco (.242, 46-190) are now with Atlanta, Gwinnett still has big bats in Barbaro Canizares and Brooks Conrad. The two of them are tied for most home runs on the club with eight each. Canizares was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI last night. With Jordan Schafer's addition, the G-Braves should get an added boost in power.
