Community Spotlight: Steve's Sports Cards
Community Partner Spotlight: February, 18th 2009
Each Wednesday we feature a different partner teaming up with us for the 2009 season.
Steve's Sports Cards
This week's Community Partner is a business that will play a role with the Hot Rods now and in the future. Steve's Sports Cards will help sponsor the game-day scorecard, which will be free for fans at the game. In the future, Steve Kessinger's store will become home to the cards and collectibles of the players who began their careers in Bowling Green. Let's get to know a little more about Steve and his shop.
How long have you had your card shop in Bowling Green?
I opened up the shop in 1986 and have been here ever since.
How did you get into the sports cards business?
I have been a baseball fan and a baseball card collector for most of my life. I finally decided that I was ready for a career change and did something that supported my passions. I'm very lucky to be able to make a living doing something I am truly passionate about.
What do you specialize in?
We have a full selection of sports cards, collecting supplies, and price guides to help you build and increase the value of your collection. One of our specialties is our collection of cards dating back to the 1930's. There are not many individual collectors that can boast of a collection that is that old.
Why did you get involved with the Hot Rods?
Being a baseball fan, I was personally excited about the team coming to the city. More importantly, though, I know fans in this community are going to be excited and I want to be able to share in their enthusiasm about the team. Plus, I think the team will create a new, younger group of card collectors while reigniting that passion in an older generation.
Steve's Sports Cards is located at 661 US-31w Bypass. To learn more about store hours or to ask if Steve has a certain card, give him a call at (270) 843-0183.
