Blue Rocks name Linton new P.A. announcer

March 31, 2006
WILMINGTON, Del. -- The Wilmington Blue Rocks are pleased to announce that Kevin P. Linton will be the new Public Address announcer this summer at Frawley Stadium. Linton takes over the role previously held by longtime P.A. announcer John McAdams, who passed away on June 16, 2005.

Linton is no stranger when it comes to working behind the microphone. During the autumn months, the Lancaster, Pa. native can be heard at Delaware Stadium as the P.A. voice of University of Delaware football. Also, during the winter, the 28-year old can be found courtside at the Bob Carpenter Center as the arena announcer for UD men's and women's basketball.

"We're thrilled to have a guy like Kevin working the P.A. this summer at the park," Blue Rocks General Manager Chris Kemple said. "You really can't replace a guy like Johnny Mac, but Kevin is the perfect fit because of his experience, and his work with the University of Delaware."

McAdams served as the P.A. announcer for 13 years and was a fan favorite at the park. This summer, the Blue Rocks plan to honor McAdams with Johnny Mac Day on June 16. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a Johnny Mac bobblehead.

The Rocks open the 2006 Carolina League season with eight in a row on the road, beginning on Thursday, April 6. Wilmington's home opener will be on Friday, April 14, against the Houston Astros affiliate, the Salem Avalanche.

Fans may purchase tickets over the phone by calling (302) 888-BLUE (2583) during normal business hours, or via the Internet at the Blue Rocks official website, www.bluerocks.com.
