Hald shines on the mound as Cards win 4-2
JUPITER, FL- Cardinals' left hander, Kyle Hald, paved the way for a 4-2 Palm Beach victory Monday afternoon at Roger Dean Stadium.
Hald pieced together one of his best outings of the year, throwing 8 innings while giving up 2 runs on four hits and an error. The Old Dominion University product walked none while collecting two strikeouts along the way. Hald faced a mere 27 batters (3 over the minimum) as he retired 15 straight spanning from the 4th inning to the 8th. Trailing 2-1, catcher Casey Rasmus led off the inning with a single to right. Shortstop Ronny Gil followed with a sac-bunt, advancing Rasumus to second. Colin Walsh was then able to follow through with the game plan, capitalizing on Gil's sacrifice as he knocked Rasmus in with a single. Two batters later, Starlin Rodriguez ripped a double down the left field line, scoring Walsh and providing Palm Beach with a 3-2 lead.
The Cardinals notched a security run in the 8th on timely placed singles by Matt Williams and Casey Rasmus. Fort Meyers was unable to fight their way back, falling 4-2 on the afternoon.
