WGN America To Televise White Sox vs. Cubs Games on March 4-5 From Cashman Field
The two day event will feature games on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:05 p.m. and Thursday, March 5 at 1:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. The two Major League Baseball exhibition games between the White Sox and Cubs will feature split squads.
WGN America will televise the two-game series with Len Kasper and Bob Brenly calling the action.
The Chicago rivals have the distinction of setting the Cashman Field all-time single game attendance record. The Cubs and White Sox played on April 3, 1993, before a crowd of 15,025 (White Sox won 9-8).
"Las Vegas receives great exposure on the television coverage by WGN America and the LVCVA has the opportunity to welcome tourists from one of the key markets from Chicago," 51s President/General Manager Don Logan said. "The two-game series between the Cubs and White Sox is a tremendous way to begin the professional baseball season for the fans of Southern Nevada. We are also looking forward to our 27th PCL season in Las Vegas on April 17 with the home opener at Cashman Field."
The White Sox will broadcast on radio Thursday's game on WSCR The Score 670-AM with Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson calling the action.
The 51s, under manager Mike Basso, will open their 27th season in the Silver State on Thursday, April 9 against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, at Colorado Springs, Colo. The 2009 home opener will be on Friday, April 17 against Colorado Springs at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field.
