Yankee Stadium's "Bleacher Creature" to Appear at The Joe

"Bald Vinny" to Attend the RiverDogs-Crawdads Game on Friday, June 28
June 27, 2013

CHARLESTON, SC - We know that not everyone can attend a New York Yankees home game, so the Charleston RiverDogs are bringing a taste of The Bronx to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The "Bleacher Creatures" at Yankee Stadium are responsible for one of the most notable fan-player interactions in the history of professional baseball: the Bleacher Creature's daily Roll Call before every game.

Famed Bleacher Creature "Bald Vinny" Milano will help bring that same energy and excitement to the Lowcountry when he attends the RiverDogs game on Friday, June 28, as the locals challenge the Hickory Crawdads at 7:05 pm.

"Bald Vinny" and his crew are stationed in the right-field bleachers for each home game and collectively call out to the individual Yankees, who are on defense. For the most part, each Yankee acknowledges the chants after their name is called in a different fashion to the delight of those in "Bleacher Creature" area.

For example, during his time with the Yankees outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher formally saluted the group in military-fashion while left fielder Brett Gardner responds in a body-builder's pose. Even Captain Derek Jeter gets into the action by acknowledging the group with a wave of his glove.

The "Bleacher Creatures" congregate in The Bronx outside of Billy's Sports Bar (River Ave. Entrance) before and after every Yankees home game, but on this specific Friday (June 28), "Bald Vinny" will be in the Riley Park bleachers getting the fans involved with the game through his Roll Call.
