Gerry McNamara To Throw Ceremonial First Pitch
SYRACUSE (NY) - The Syracuse SkyChiefs announced today that Syracuse University senior basketball player GERRY McNAMARA will throw out the Time Warner Sports Ceremonial First Pitch as part of the team's Opening Day Ceremonies this Thursday, April 6th when the SkyChiefs take on the Rochester Red Wings at 2:00 PM.
McNamara, one of the most popular players in Syracuse history, was an AP Honorable Mention selection this season and a two time Big East First-Team selection, completed his Syracuse career ranked first in career three-point baskets (400), free-throw percentage (.888) and minutes played (4,781). He was second in career steals (258), third in career assists (648) and fourth in career scoring (2,099). McNamara led the Division I ranks with a consecutive starts streak of 135 games that spanned his SU career. He helped the Orange to the 2003 NCAA Championship and the 2005 and 2006 BIG EAST Conference Tournament titles. Syracuse was 103-32 during his tenure.
"Gerry has been a champion on and off the court for four very exciting years," said SkyChiefs General Manager John Simone. "I know our fans and players will be excited to see Gerry throw out the first pitch."
