Kenny Rogers Scheduled to Start for Whitecaps Friday

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps, in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers, announced today that Kenny Rogers is scheduled to make his second rehab start with West Michigan Friday when they take on the Dayton Dragons at 7 p.m.

Rogers has been on the Tigers 60-day disabled list since March 25 due to a blood clot in his left shoulder. His last appearance with the Tigers was in Game 2 of the World Series last October when he shut down the Cardinals with eight shutout innings for the Tigers only win of the series.

The southpaw from Savannah, Ga., made his first rehab start on Sunday, June 10 with Triple-A Toledo against Norfolk. Rogers threw 3.2 scoreless innings with three hits, no walks and two strikeouts before leaving on a pitch count of 51.

Rogers is in his 19th season in the Majors and is 207-139 all-time with a 4.19 ERA. He has spent time with six different teams throughout his career, including the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Oakland A's, Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers.

• Gates will open Friday at 4:00 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early.
