Jason Fernandez Named Texas League POW

Jason Fernandez was honored as the Texas League Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Fernandez threw a complete game against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals last Thursday to improve his record to 6-4.

Fernandez struck out six, while allowing just one run on six hits and no walks. The Baton Rouge native won his second consecutive start, while lowering his ERA to 3.92.

Fernandez was selected by the Oakland A's in the 11th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Fernandez is the second straight winner of teh Texas League Pitcher of the Week Award after Bobby Cramer received the honor last week.
