Voyagers' Late Rally Stuns Osprey

June 28, 2013

In a game that felt like a roller coaster, the last twists and turns went in Great Falls' favor.

The Voyagers benefited from a struggling Missoula bullpen to stun the Osprey, 10-9, in the rubber game of their three-game series Friday night at Centene Stadium. Great Falls trailed 9-6 going into the bottom of the 8th, and their first two batters were retired to start the inning. But the next six hitters reached base - on three singles and three walks - and before the final out could be recorded the Voyagers had the lead for good.

Missoula took the game's first lead, and was ahead 8-2 after a five-run rally in the top of the 5th. But the advantage was never comfortable -- Great Falls answered with four in the bottom of the inning to keep the game close and set the stage for their decisive rally.

The loss spoiled another impressive showing by the Osprey offense, which followed Thursday night's 14-hit output with 13 more on Friday.

The last two hitters in the O's lineup - Justin Bianco and Danny Poma - led the way. Bianco broke out of an 0-7 slump by going 3-5 and reaching base four times. Bianco scored three runs and drove in another, and stole three bases. Poma went 3-4 with two RBIs and reached base four times.

Joe Munoz contributed a 2-4 night with a run scored and two stolen bases. Anthony Alvarez drew four walks in five plate appearances - one with the bases loaded - and scored twice.

The Osprey return to Ogren Park Allegiance Field to open a three-game series with the Pioneer League North Division-leading Helena Brewers on Saturday, June 29th. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
