Cardinals Kids' Club
A press conference was held at McBride Elementary on Thursday morning, revealing details about the brand new Cardinals Kids' Club, as well as to honor a couple of McBride students and a special presentation to the school.
Youngsters Ian Martus and Cade Schmitz, both of Mrs. Manlove's third-grade class, submitted entries into a recent Cardinals' essay contest, on "The Importance of Literacy". Out of several hundred entries turned in throughout the Springfield community, these two students finished in the top five, with Ian Martus being named the Grand Prize Winner.
For writing the best essay, Ian received a $100 savings bond thanks to Farmers Insurance, a Springfield Cardinals Prize Package and the first entry into the Cardinals Kids' Club, sponsored by Farmers Insurance.
Additionally, both Ian and Cade helped McBride Elementary win a special $500 grant, also courtesy of Farmers Insurance.
"All of us with Farmers Insurance are excited to be a part of the Cardinals Kids' Club and are happy to help these young kids get excited to read, as we help to promote literacy," said Farmers Executive Director Paul Crosetti. "Ian, Cade, Mrs. Manlove , Principal Bret Range and everyone from McBride Elementary should be very proud. Farmers Insurance is thrilled to present them with a $500 grant."
Kids who sign up for the Cardinals Kids' Club, sponsored by Farmers Insurance, will receive a voucher good for three General Admissions tickets to a Springfield Cardinals home game, an exclusive Kids' Club Cap featuring Louie the Mascot, a Home Organizer virtual filing cabinet featuring the M.I.L.K. Digital ID, which helps keep children safe, a 10% discount in the Springfield Cardinals Team Store and much more, all for just $15.
"We thank Farmers Insurance for helping us launch the Cardinals Kids' Club," said Springfield Cardinals Vice President / General Manager Matt Gifford. "This is something that our fans have been asking for and with the addition of the M.I.L.K. ID program to the Kids' Club, it makes it great for both parents and kids."
