Biggest Fireworks Show & McCutchen Bobbles Just a Sliver of Upcoming Homestand

Curve return home to celebrate Fourth of July weekend in Curve, Pa. in Style

CURVE, Pa. -Back from a seven-game road trip in time to celebrate the birth of America, the Altoona Curve will play a holiday weekend series against the Erie SeaWolves starting Thursday, July 4 at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The homestand is headlined by our biggest post-game show of the season with Fourth of July Fireworks and the Andrew McCutchen Bobblehead Giveaway the following night.

The first matchup of the series will start at 7 p.m. on the Fourth of July with the Pennsylvania Lottery will presenting the Independence Day Fireworks after the final out, which is the biggest fireworks display of the season in Curve, Pa. Due to the anticipated large crowd on Thursday, gates for the contest with the SeaWolves will open at 5:20 p.m. for season ticket holders and 5:30 p.m. for the general public (30 minutes earlier than normal). 

For those fans that would like the picnic feel to their Fourth of July celebration, the Curve are offering special picnic tickets for this night only in the US. Foods Picnic Pavilion. Fans can purchase a two-hour buffet picnic ticket which will also secure them a seat in the picnic area down the third base line for the Thursday contest. Adult individual picnic tickets are $23 while children's individual picnic tickets are $18. 

The game will also include the 4th of July Patriotic Hat-off-the-Head Auction with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Altoona will be wearing special Stars and Stripes caps for the game and that is what fans can bid on during the game.   Winning bidders can have their hat autographed after the game by the player who wore it that night. Once the game and fireworks are over, kids can run the bases

Friday night's 7 p.m. game represents the second in our series of three 15th Season Bobbleheads, presented by Nuts for You. The first 1,500 fans to enter the ballpark will receive an Andrew McCutchen Bobblehead of the current Pirates' star who played for the Curve in 2006 and 2007. McCutchen was selected for the bobblehead in a vote of the fans conducted on Facebook this winter. The tilt is also a T.G.I. Friday's Curve Mug Club Night. The first 250 fans over the age of 21 to exit the park following the game will receive a T.G.I. Friday's mug. Several Curve players will also host a postgame meet-and-greet at the Plank Road T.G.I. Friday's that is open to all fans.

The fun doesn't end there-Galliker's is presenting another free Kids' Club Day  - meaning that all kids' clubbers can get into Friday night's game completely free with their membership cards.   Kids age 12 and under can still sign up for the FREE Galliker's Kids' Club any time leading up to and including game day to get FREE admission to this game and four others later in the season. Club members are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue to celebrate the nation's independence. Additionally, all kids can run the bases at the end of the game.

Fans can enter into a raffle on Friday night and will receive one entry to win with every bag of nuts that they purchase. The customers will receive a numbered chip with every purchase which will be deposited into a drum. The winning chip will be drawn during the game, with the winner receiving a $1,000 Sheetz Card thanks to Nuts For You.   

Saturday night's 6 p.m. game features the first-ever appearance by the Utility Man. This entertainer leaves even five-tool players in the dust-his act includes jumping stilts, singing, improv comedy, puppeteering, competitive eating, juggling, dancing, magic, and more. He'll be performing skits on the field and personally interacting with members of the crowd. Saturday night is also a Scout Night, which includes a Family Sleepover Night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Sunday Night Fireworks will return to Peoples Natural Gas Field for the 6 p.m. game with the SeaWolves thanks to the Ramada Altoona. Kids will also have another opportunity to sprint their hearts out around the bases following the game.

The final game of the series will feature Super Splash Day #2 presented by the Altoona Water Authority at noon on Monday. The third-base-side concourse will be converted into a water-based fun zone with water sprinklers, pools and water toys for all to stay cool in the summer sun. It's also a Mirror Monday courtesy of the Altoona Mirror where fans can get $4 off Grandstand seats for the final game of the set with the coupon from the front page of the sports section in the Monday Mirror.

  • Kids Club Day- Friday we ask that all Galliker's Curve Kids' Club members dress in red, white, or blue for the game. For more information on joining the Kids' Club click here.
  • T.G.I. Friday's Mug Club Night- The first 250 fans 21 & over to exit the ballpark will receive a T.G.I. Friday's Mug Club Mug. Following the game a pair of Curve players will head over to T.G.I. Friday's to sign autographs and meet with fans for one hour.

Saturday, July 6 vs. Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers) at 6 p.m./gates open: 5 p.m.

  • Utility Man Appearance- The Utility Man brings a unique brand of fun and entertainment to the ballpark. He will be interacting with fans in the stands and doing on-field skits throughout the game.
  • Scout Night- Scout troops will be honored before the game, and can camp out on the field following the game, time permitting a movie will be shown on the video board following the game.
