Makes first appearance after Winston-Salem reveals online poll results
March 20, 2009
The Winston-Salem Dash revealed the name of their new mascot and it's Bolt!

The team announced Bolt's identity as he made his first public appearance at a special event this afternoon at Southwest Elementary School in Clemmons.

"We are thrilled to be launching Bolt into the community. We wanted to develop a character we thought kids and families would enjoy and interact with, which is who we target our entertainment too," said Kevin Terry, President of the Winston-Salem Dash. "We think Bolt is going to be a popular addition to the Dash brand of entertainment and a great addition to the entire Winston-Salem community!"

The Dash turned to the community to determine an identity through a "Name the Mascot" contest on their website. After receiving over 1,200 submissions, the team selected Bolt as the winning entry. Because there were 54 submissions of the winning name, Jon Wells was randomly selected as the grand prize winner. Wells will receive two 17-game season ticket packages and a gift bag containing an assortment of new Dash merchandise. All other fans who submitted the winning name will receive Dash merchandise.
