Cubs announce first round of roster cuts - 3 former Hawks headed to Minor League Camp
MESA, AZ – The Chicago Cubs today announced their first round of roster cuts, reducing the spring roster from 60 to 57 players.
Three non-roster invitees have been assigned to minor league camp: right-handed pitchers Andrew Cashner and Rocky Roquet as well as left-handed pitcher Ed Campusano.
Chicago’s spring roster of 57 players consists of 29 pitchers (eight non-roster invitees), six catchers (three non-roster invitees), 10 infielders (four non-roster invitees) and 12 outfielders (three non-roster invitee).
Cashner pitched in 6 games for the Hawks in 2008 compiling a 1-1 record with a 4.96 ERA.
Roquet closed for the Hawks in 2006. Over 19 games, he saved 3 games with a 5.49 ERA.
Campusano went 0-5 for the Hawks in 2004 with a 5.29 ERA.
