Hawks - in Conjunction with Fish & Game - Move Bird's Nest Again
Last April the baseball club moved the Osprey nest that had been perched over the first base stands to a new platform in centerfield. That decision was made after extensive consultation between the Hawks and Idaho Fish & Game.
Unfortunately, the Osprey didn't transition well to the centerfield platform so another site is being explored. Earlier this month, Idaho Power in conjunction with Glenn & Claudia Mouser of the Idaho Osprey Foundation assisted the Hawks with the construction of another platform in left field next to the Memorial Stadium scoreboard.
"This is an attempt to keep the bird safe and the icon in place," said Glenn Mouser of the Idaho Osprey Foundation. "To have this Osprey actually making Memorial Stadium its home is an extreme rarity and something we should celebrate. That's our goal."
"Our hope is that the Osprey will thrive in the new location," said Hawks' President/GM Todd Rahr. "We're exploring every option to allow the bird to continue to be part of the Memorial Stadium experience without creating a hazardous situation for our fans."
The Hawks celebrate the 20th anniversary of Memorial Stadium in 2009 - it will be their 23rd season of Northwest League play. The club has won 6 NWL Championships, the most recent banner coming in 2004. Season, mini-plan, and single game tickets for Hawks' games are available at 322-5000. Don't stand in line.
