Grizzlies Prep For First Place Showdown, Packed Homestand

FRESNO, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies return to Chukchansi Park on Monday, June 15th for a seven game homestand that will see the first meeting of 2009 with the division leading, arch rival Sacramento River Cats. Ladies Night Out featuring a Grizzlies player dinner auction, Friday Night Fireworks, and the first Kids Eat Free event of the year highlight the week long event schedule.

Fresno, winners of 11 of their last 15, hosts Sacramento Monday through Wednesday to kick off the second annual Highway 99 Showdown Series between California's two Pacific Coast League franchises. In 2008, the Grizzlies and River Cats split the season series eight games a piece. More than bragging rights will be at stake this homestand however, as Fresno sits just 2.0 games back of Sacramento, and as of now, has a chance to take over first place in their head-to-head match-up against the River Cats.

Game one of the first place showdown on June 15th will feature the best sports entertainment value anywhere, Monday Madness presented by ABC 30. For just $22, fans get two Field Level Reserve Tickets, two hot dogs, two sodas, two Wild Water Adventure Park passes, and two rounds of mini-golf at Blackbeard's. Fans are encouraged to purchase Monday Madness packages in advance by calling 559.320.TIXS or visiting the Chukchansi Park box office, as demand for the value-laden offer has skyrocketed over the past two Monday home dates.

Tuesday, June 16th is another All You Can Eat Tuesday presented by Mega 97.9. Grizzlies fans can get a ticket to the game, and enjoy all the hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, soda, and water they can handle until 8:30 pm for just $15.

Way Back Wednesday on June 17th, presented by the Fresno Bee, means kid under the age of 12, seniors over the age of 55, and active military personnel with ID can get a Field Level Reserve ticket for just $2.

The Grizzlies welcome the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, top affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, to town for four games beginning on Thursday, June 18th. The first game of that series be another huge Thirsty Thursday, with 12 oz. Tecate and Tecate Light beers for just $1 until the end of the 5th inning, and $1 sodas all night long.

Thursday will also be Ladies Night Out presented by KSEE 24. The event will feature manicures, pedicures, and makeovers on the concourse, a dugout fashion show with the newest looks from local boutiques, and a silent auction where fans can bid on dinner with members of the Fresno Grizzlies. All proceeds of the player dinner auction will benefit the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, which is dedicated to ending women's cancers and domestic abuse. The Grizzlies' world famous dancing grounds crew, the Drag Kings, will also perform a special routine dedicated to all the ladies in attendance on Thursday evening.

On Friday, June 19th the Grizzlies will host their annual Christian Fellowship Night featuring a pregame concert with renowned local artist Jon Shabaglian. Not only will early birds enjoy the concert, but the first 2,500 fans will get orange Rally Cards, thanks to Rally's. The downtown Fresno night sky will be lit up with another massive Friday Night Fireworks show immediately following the game, presented by Kiss Country.

AT&T Yellow Pages sponsors a Geno Espineli Jersey T-Shirt giveaway on Saturday, June 20th for the first 2,500 fans. The t-shirt will be a replica of the Grizzlies' popular black alternate jerseys, featuring the "FG" icon on the front and Espineli's name and number on back. The 2008 PCL All-Star reliever won an online poll earlier this season to become the fan's choice for the player featured on the t-shirt.

There's not a better place in the Valley to celebrate Father's Day on Sunday, June 21st than at Chukchansi Park. The Save Mart Sunday 2:05 pm game against the Sky Sox is packed with fun festivities for the whole family. The excitement starts when gates open as the fans can bring their gloves for a pregame Father's Day Catch on the Field. There will also be the free Future Giants Autograph Session pregame on the concourse, and Kids Run the Bases following the game, thanks to Del Taco.

Making its debut on Father's Day will be the newest promotion designed to deliver the utmost in value for Valley families. Beginning on June 21st, Kids Eat Free at every Sunday home game (excluding July 5th). All kids 12 and under will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a soda.
