Radio Broadcasts Head To The FM Dial

95.3 FM "The Score" Receives Broadcast Rights
March 25, 2009
EUGENE - The Eugene Emeralds and Cumulus Broadcasting have announced a new radio broadcast partnership set to begin in time for the 2009 season. All 76 Emeralds games both home and away, will be carried live on 95.3 FM "The Score". Former flagship, KPNW-AM 1120, had held broadcast rights since the 2000 campaign.

In addition to game broadcasts, "The Score" will air daily and weekly segments featuring the Emeralds during "The Writer's Block" with George Schroeder and "Sports Talk" with Steve Tannen. 95.3 FM "The Score" is the areas only sports talk channel and carries ESPN Radio programming as well as "The Dan Patrick Show" from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. weekdays.

This marks the first time that the Emeralds will be carried exclusively on the FM dial. The broadcast frequency that "The Score" provides features greater sound quality and an expanded reach during daytime hours enabling broadcasts to be heard in Albany/Corvallis, Florence and Roseburg.

The relationship is being praised by both sides as a move that make sense for both parties. Emeralds president Bob Beban is looking forward to the switch to "The Score". "After nine great seasons with KPNW we are excited to move Emeralds baseball to 95.3 FM "The Score". Their target listening audience is the core of our fan base and being able to put a quality product on the radio is of high importance to our organization and we know we can get just that from our relationship with Cumulus Broadcasting."

Cumulus Broadcasting director of sales B.J. O'Brien is excited with the new partnership as well. "We are overjoyed with our new relationship with the Emeralds in light of "The Score" moving to the FM dial. We now offer a complete sports package to local sports fans with comprehensive coverage of University of Oregon sports, high school athletics and now the Emeralds. We can't wait to get started."
