Summers, Kvasnicka earn FSL Pitcher and Player of the Week
Summers, 23, tossed a two-hit, complete game shutout on Sunday afternoon at Tradition Field in a 3-0 win over the St. Lucie Mets. A fourth round pick of the Minnesota Twins in 2011, Summers faced just four over the minimum and allowed only one runner to reach second base. In his first start after a three-game stint with Double-A New Britain, Summers went the distance with no walks and seven strikeouts.
Overall on the season with the Miracle, Summers has a 3-4 record in 15 starts with a 3.20 earned run average while accumulating 59 strikeouts in 81.2 innings.
Kvasnicka, 24, played in five games from July 1-7 and hit .421, 8-for-19, with two homers, three doubles, a triple, five runs scored and six runs batted in. Kvasnicka went 3-for-5 and was a home run shy of the cycle on July 3 vs. Bradenton. The next day, Kvasnicka hit a pair of two-run homers against the Marauders at Hammond Stadium.
Acquired in a trade with the Houston Astros during Spring Training, Kvasnicka is hitting .313 with six homers and 20 runs driven in over 22 games. After missing the first 60 games with a wrist injury, 13 of Kvasnicka's 25 hits have gone for extra bases.
The Miracle (54-28, 9-6) wrap up a three-game series with the St. Lucie Mets (44-39, 7-9) tonight at Tradition Field in St. Lucie, Fla. The Miracle return home to Hammond Stadium on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. against the Jupiter Hammerheads to open up a seven-game homestand.
