"Firestone Drives America Tour" Kicks Off at Canal Park July 16
(AKRON, OHIO) July 9, 2013 - The Akron Aeros announced today it will be the first stop on Bridgestone Commercial Solutions' "Firestone Drives America Tour" on Tuesday, July 16, before the scheduled 7:05 p.m. game vs. Erie SeaWolves. The traveling road show will cross the country throughout the summer and fall, celebrating an iconic American brand and introducing new Firestone commercial truck tires to fleets and drivers.
There will be several fun and exciting opportunities for fans, including a post-game fireworks display. A special road show festival is slated from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on South Main Street, which will be blocked off from E. Buchtel Ave. to E. State St. The road show will include the famous Big Foot monster truck, and inflatable Firestone Tires and interactive displays.
That night when entering Canal Park, fans will have a chance to donate a non-perishable food item to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for a chance to win a VIP Aeros experience and Turbo Prize Packs. They also will receive a Firestone key chain giveaway upon entry and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Firestone reusable bag.
There will be more fun and games that night as the team celebrates 15 years of the National Toy Hall of Fame inductees with classic in-park games, contests, and promotions involving classic toys such as marbles, hula hoops, and Frisbees.
The Firestone Drives America Tour will stop at select Minor League Baseball and NCAA College Football games after its Akron visit. It is part of the "Those With Drive, Drive a Firestone" campaign, which was first revealed in March and includes a series of activities across the United States celebrating the timeless "F-shield" and the state-of-the-art, trusted technology that continues to lead Firestone innovation.
"Firestone is rooted in a rich history of trust and innovation. For many, the F-shield is a source of confidence, pride and excitement," said Matthew Stevenson, Vice President of Marketing, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions. "This promotional tour showcases both the excitement and admiration of the Firestone name and our latest Firestone-brand tires."
It also gives Class 8-CDL holders the chance to enter the Drive a Firestone Sweepstakes; the grand prize - a special Firestone Edition Class 8 tractor, which will be on display during the tour. The trucks provide attendees with the opportunity to see the special Firestone Edition Class 8 truck to be given away as well as the innovation behind and performance benefits of the company's new line of Firestone eco-Products. Attendees can talk to experts about how to achieve a lower cost per mile and questions about Firestone tires. Information about the road show is available at http://www.firestonetrucktires.com.
