June 14, 2009
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs continue their current eight-game homestand through Thursday, June 18, and Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Scott Kazmir will join the team on Wednesday for a rehab start against the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Charlotte Sports Park.

Kazmir will throw his first live game since being sidelined on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps on May 21. Prior to landing on the DL, Kazmir was 4-4 with a 7.69 ERA in nine starts for the Rays this season. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m., and tickets are still available by calling 941-206-HITS or visiting stonecrabsbaseball.com.

The Stone Crabs start a four-game series with the Flying Tigers on Monday with Dollar Dog Night at the ballpark presented by Red Hot Chicago. All ballpark hot dogs are just $1 throughout the night. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday's game also starts at 7:05 p.m. and features Seniors Eat Free Tuesday where fans 55 and older will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a drink with the purchase of a game ticket. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.

In addition to successfully rehabbing his strained quadriceps, Kazmir also has some more incentive to pitch well on Wednesday as fans will receive a coupon for a free item from Chick-fil-A if the Stone Crabs win as part of Chick-fil-A Winning Wednesday. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.

The homestand concludes on Thursday, June 18, with another Thirsty Thursday presented by the Icehouse Pub featuring $1 domestic drafts and $2 domestic bottles. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Tickets are still available for all games and start at just $5 for advance purchases. To purchase tickets, visit the Charlotte Sports Park box office, ticketmaster.com or call 941-206-HITS. For more information on upcoming games, please go to www.stonecrabsbaseball.com.
