Danville Wins Game 2 Of Doubleheader

Danville Shuts Out Princeton to Win Game 2

After winning a close game one that went into extra innings, Danville shuts out Princeton, 1-0, in game two. In an error free ballgame, Danville (11-9) was able to out hit Princeton (5-17) to clench the win.

Game two was a pitching duel, with the pitchers only giving up eight hits during the game. Andrew Waszak got his first start on the mound for Danville, throwing four complete innings in which he had two strike outs and only gave up three hits. Jordan Sechler came in at the top of the fifth, striking out four and walking two of the batters he faced. He did not give up any hits or runs, and picked up the win for the Braves.

Princeton started right handed pitcher Josh Kimborowicz, who saw 3.2 innings of action. In his time on the mound he struck out four batters and gave up three hits, one of which was the solo homerun by Jacob Schrader that put the Braves ahead for good. Clayton Crum came on to pitch in the fourth for Princeton, and ended the night with two strikeouts and two hits. Kimborowicz took the loss for Princeton.

Danville outhit Princeton 5-3 in game two. All three of Princeton's hits were singles, while Danville had three singles, a double, and the game winning homerun. Throughout the game, Princeton only left two runners stranded, opposed to the four Danville left on. Connor Lien extended his hitting streak to seven games. As for Schrader, his homerun with one out in the 4th, was his third blast of the season. He and Lien now lead the team with three each.

Danville and Princeton will play two more games this series, Sunday, July 14, at 4:00 p.m., and Monday, July 15, at 7:00 p.m. After this series wraps up, Danville will go on the road to play a five game series at Kingsport before traveling to Elizabethton for a three game series. Princeton and Danville will meet for the third and final time, at Princeton August 18-20.
