Guilder Rodriguez goes on disabled list
July 14, 2013

FRISCO, TEXAS (JULY 14, 2013) - The Frisco RoughRiders have received right-handed pitcher Joe Van Meter from Advanced-A Myrtle Beach. Making room for the addition, the RoughRiders have placed Guilder Rodriguez on the 7-day disabled list due to illness. With the corresponding moves, the Frisco roster remains at 25 active players.

Van Meter, 24, pitched briefly for the RoughRiders in 2012 but spent most of the season at the Advanced-A level with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. This season with the Pelicans, his record was 3-4 with a 3.48 ERA in 23 appearances, including five starts. In 51.2 innings pitched this year, he allowed 24 runs, 20 earned, on 51 hits with 62 strikeouts and 25 walks. He has pitched well as a starter for the Pelicans, going just 1-3 but with a 3.72 ERA. His final start came on June 7 when he fired five scoreless innings against the Carolina Mudcats. In his last three appearances with Myrtle Beach he has combined to throw four scoreless innings against Carolina League opponents. In three games for the RoughRiders last July, the Glen Allen, Virginia native posted an ERA of 11.82 with no decisions in 5.1 innings pitched.

Rodriguez last played on July 7. He is hitting .250 in 63 ballgames for the 'Riders splitting his time between third base, shortstop, second base and first base. This season he was named an All-Star for the first time in his 13-year professional career and played in the Texas League's annual showcase last month in Springdale, Ark.

The 'Riders return home tonight to host the San Antonio Missions for the first of four games at Dr Pepper Ballpark. For information on tickets to see the RoughRiders in 2013, please call (972) 731-9200, email [email protected] or visit www.ridersbaseball.com.
