Bees to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of "The Sandlot" on Friday, July 19

SALT LAKE CITY - On Friday, July 19, and in conjunction with Fox Searchlight and the Utah Film Commission, the Salt Lake Bees will welcome "The Sandlot" cast members Victor Dimattia ("Timmy Timmons"), Grant Gelt ("Bertram Grover Weeks"), Chauncey Leopardi ("Michael 'Squints' Palledorous), Shane Obedenski ("Tommy 'Repeat' Timmons"), Patrick Renna ("Hamilton 'Ham' Porter"), Marty York ("Alan 'Yeah-Yeah' McClennan") and Daniel Zacapa ("Grandpa Squints"/Police Chief) along with writer/director/narrator David Mickey Evans and producer Cathleen Summers to Spring Mobile Ballpark for a 20th anniversary celebration of the hit film.
A free showing of the film, to be introduced by Evans, will take place on the outfield grass immediately following the game. In addition, cast members will participate in batting practice with the Bees, throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game and lead the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch. Cast members will also be available for photographs on the main concourse near Fanzz during the first five innings of play.
The celebration will continue on Saturday, July 20 as select Bees players will participate in a kids' clinic held on the actual Sandlot field (Glenrose Drive and Navajo Street in Salt Lake City) starting at 10 a.m.
The Salt Lake Bees begin an eight-game home stand on Thursday, July 18 at 7:05 p.m. against the Sacramento River Cats at Spring Mobile Ballpark. Drinks are available for $2.75 on Thirsty Thursdays. For more information, call (801) 325-BEES.
