Dingbat Competes in Mascot Mania
The Bristol White Sox professional baseball team has announced that its official mascot, Dingbat, is competing in Minor League Baseball's Mascot Mania competition.
From now through August 1, the Sox will be competing against other teams in the Appalachian League to see who has the top mascot. The league winner will move on to compete against the top mascots from each professional minor league later in August.
Sox fans can vote for Dingbat an unlimited number of times by visiting http://is.gd/MascotMania. Fans who use Twitter can also cast up to 25 ballots per day by tweeting, or retweeting, @Bristol Sox #Mascot Mania.
As Dingbat campaigns for the top mascot spot in the Appalachian League, the Sox are collecting their fans' favorite pictures of Dingbat, or pictures with fans' very own plush Dingbats, which are available at the Sox Box souvenir stand. All photos will be compiled into a video to promote Dingbat's candidacy. Pictures can be emailed to [email protected], or tweeted to @DingbatBristol.
Despite their small market size, the Sox have performed well in national competitions such as this, due to their loyal fan base. Earlier this year, the team finished second in the Local Legends category of Minor League Baseball's Food Fight concession competition with their legendary Grand Slam Pie, which is on sale at every Sox home game at Home Run Alley. The Sox have also been recognized as a leader among Minor League Baseball teams in the use of Twitter to promote such competitions.
