Gutierrez place on disabled list
KODAK, Tenn. - The Chicago Cubs announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies. RHP Carlos Gutierrez has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to July 17. There are no corresponding moves at this time.
The Smokies roster is now at 24 active players.
Gutierrez, 26, held no record with a save and a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/3.2 IP) in two relief appearances with the Smokies this season. Since joining Tennessee on July 10, the right-hander allowed three hits and an unearned run, while walking three and striking out two in 3.2 innings pitched. The Miami, Fla. native was originally selected by the Minnesota Twins in the first round (27th overall) in the 2008 draft. Gutierrez was claimed by the Cubs off waivers from the Twins on Oct. 23, 2012.
