Bats to host Aroldis Chapman bobblehead giveaway
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats will be giving away Aroldis Chapman bobbleheads to the first 2,500 paid admissions at the Saturday, July 27 game at 6:05 p.m. Gates at Louisville Slugger Field for the contest against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, will open at 5 p.m. The game will mark the Bats' second of three bobblehead giveaways during the season. The team will also give away Billy Hamilton bobbles on Saturday, August 10. Tickets are still available for both games.
The Bats open their eight-game homestand on Friday, July 26 at 7:05 p.m. with their final Peanut Allergy Awareness Night in conjunction with Family Allergy & Asthma. The 2013 season marks the third year the Bats and Family Allergy & Asthma have collaborated on such an event to allow those with peanut allergies to attend a game. For Friday's game, no peanuts or products with nuts will be used or sold in concession stands and absolutely no peanuts will be permitted to be brought through the gates. There will also be fireworks following Friday's game.
Along with the bobblehead giveaway, Jake the Diamond Dog will be featured during Saturday's game. A Budweiser $1 beer happy hour featuring live music from Thirty Spokes will take place on the Overlook Deck on Thursday, August 1 from 5:30-7 p.m. The Bats 2013 card set giveaway will take place prior to the Friday, August 2 game (gates open at 6 p.m.) and fireworks will follow.
The RailRiders will visit the Bats for the first four games of the homestand from Friday, July 26 through Monday, July 29. The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, then visit for four games from Tuesday, July 30 through Friday, August 2.
Entering play Thursday, the Bats are 52-54 and in second place in the IL West, 11.5 games behind the Indianapolis Indians, but just 3.0 games behind the Norfolk Tides in the IL Wild Card race. Center fielder Billy Hamilton still leads the IL with his 58 stolen bases, 26 more than Indianapolis' Felix Pie in second place.
