Tommy Wyche is the 2013 Green Day Honoree

Tommy Wyche had the vision for protecting our mountains and for revitalizing our city, and then took action to make it happen. He paved the way for Greenville to become the city it is today.

Now it's time to celebrate Tommy Wyche as the 2013 Green Day Honoree on Tuesday, August 6th at Fluor Field!

One of the most influential and active leaders in Greenville, Tommy has been instrumental in the development of Greenville Commons, the revitalization of Greenville's Main Street, and the well-traveled foot bridge across the Reedy River. He has served his community well by taking key roles in organizations such as the Greenville Arts Festival, YMCA, Greenville Little Theater, Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Governor's School, and many others.

He has been crucial in land conservation efforts in the Upstate, including the protection of the "Mountain Bridge" in northern Greenville County, the creation of Jones Gap State Park, and the acquisition of Jocasse Gorges by the State of South Carolina. For these accomplishments and others, Tommy has been recognized both regionally and nationally, receiving honors such as the South Carolina Order of the Palmetto, the American Bar Association for Excellence in Environmental and Resource Stewardship, the Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission, and the Nature Conservancy Oak Leaf Award.

Tommy is truly a renaissance man -- an accomplished pianist, a state tennis champion at every age level into his seventies, an avid skier, and a noted photographer who has published six books of nature photography.
