Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lansing Lugnuts (affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) in the second game of a three-game series.

Last Game: Lansing defeated Dayton 7-1 in the series opener on Wednesday. 

MLB Rehabilitation Assignments: Ryan Ludwick is the second Reds player to join the Dragons this season on a rehab assignment after Johnny Cueto made two starts for the Dragons in May. Seven Reds players have played for the Dragons over the last two years. In 2012, rehabbing players included Miguel Cairo, Bill Bray, Drew Stubbs, Nick Masset, and Joey Votto. Over the Dragons 14 years, 26 Reds players have served rehab assignments with the Dragons.

Individual Notes

  • Seth Mejias-Brean is 26 for 51, .510 over his last 13 games to raise his average from .266 to .301. From July 10-July 24, Mejias-Brean leads all of professional baseball in batting average at .510 and hits with 26.  He leads the team and ranks second in the Midwest League in second half batting average at .371. Since May 12, he is batting .350 in 63 games to rank second in the league to Leonardo Reginato of BG (.354).
  • Jesse Winker has driven in 18 runs in his last 13 games, belting four home runs.
  • Joe Hudson is hitting .367 over his last nine games, including his first professional home run. 
  • Zach Vincej was activated from the disabled list on Monday after being out with a strained oblique since June 27. He hit .473 over his last 17 games prior to the injury to raise his average from .226 to .280.

Team Notes

  • In the Dragons last four wins, they trailed by at least three runs at some point during the game. 
  • The Dragons are 12-7 over the last 19 games. They have won the last five sets, taking two of three in each. They will need to win tonight and Friday night to win this set. They have won the last two three-game sets despite losing the first game.
