Cole Dynamite in AA Debut

July 25, 2013

Portland, ME - A.J. Cole tossed seven strong innings in his Double-A debut to lead the Harrisburg Senators to a 2-1 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs in the series opener at Hadlock Field.

After giving up a one-out single in the first, Cole retired the next 11 hitters he faced. The right-hander gave up just three hits, one run, walked one, and struck out six.

Jason Martinson led off the fifth inning with a walk and two batters later he came around to score on an RBI triple by Destin Hood, putting the Senators up 1-0. Harrisburg added an unearned run in the sixth when Jerad Head walked to open the inning and later scored on an error by catcher Christian Vazquez.

The only run Cole surrendered to the Sea Dogs came on a solo home run off the bat of Travis Shaw in the seventh.

Tyler Herron tossed two scoreless innings out of the Senators bullpen to pick up his first save of the season.
