Twelve umps selected to oversee All-Star games
June 23, 2009
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The players aren't the only ones on the field who are being rewarded for their exploits with All-Star selections.

There will be a dozen umpires working at tonight's three Class A All-Star games in recognition of their outstanding performances this season.

Seth Buckminster will call balls and strikes at the California/Carolina All-Star Game in Lake Elsinore, Calif. He will be joined by fellow California League umpires Justin Sassaman, Nate Thompson and Tim Eastman.

At the Midwest League game in Clinton, Iowa, Ben May will be behind the plate. Ryan Blakney, Brandon Henson and Tyler Wilson will work the bases.

Ian Fazio will work the dish, with the bases covered by Chris Graham, Doug Vines and Joe Born in the South Atlantic League contest in Charleston, W.V., at the home of the West Virginia Power.

The Florida State League kicked off the Class A All-Star season last Saturday in Ft. Myers, Fla. Travis Carlson (home plate), Matthew Cunningham, Matthew Pridemore and Joseph Hannigan were the umpires in the North's 6-4 win over the South.
