Suns & Biscuits Face Another Twinbill
The Jacksonville Suns and Montgomery Biscuits for the second straight night face off in a doubleheader at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., with the first game beginning at 6:40 p.m. ET.
Montgomery took the first two games of the series with their twinbill sweep last night, taking the first game 6-1 and then the nightcap with a 4-2 victory. With the losses, the Suns fell out of first place and now trail the Mobile BayBears by one game in the second half South Division standings.
Jacksonville is scheduled to give the nod to left-hander Justin Nicolino (0-1, 12.00 ERA) is the first game of tonight's doubleheader. Nicolino looks to bounce back after suffering the loss in his first Double-A debut on July 20 at Tennessee, yielding six runs (four earned) on seven hits in three innings pitched.
The Biscuits, meanwhile, are expected to send right-hander Jake Thompson (7-9, 4.94 ERA) to the mound for game one. Thompson suffered the loss in his last start on July 19 at Mobile after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits in six innings of work.
In the nightcap of tonight's twinbill, right-hander Matt Neil (1-2, 4.02 ERA) is slated to toe the rubber for the Suns. The right-hander fired two innings of relief on July 20 at Tennessee, relinquishing an earned ru on five hits in two frames. In his last start on July 14 in the second game of a doubleheader versus Mobile, Neil did not factor in the decision after giving up two earned runs on four hits in 4.1 innings.
Southpaw starter Enny Romero (9-4, 2.87 ERA) is anticipated to head to the bump for the second game tonight for Montgomery. The lefty earned the victory in his last outing on July 20 at Mobile after allowing a lone earned run on five hits in five frames pitched against the BayBears.

Hoover is assisted by Matt Leland and Andrew Green. Leland and Green will host the UF Health Suns Pregame Show beginning at 6:25 p.m. ET on the Suns Baseball Network.
Below are more notes on tonight's games, direct from the official Suns game notes compiled by Roger Hoover. The entire game notes for tonight's contests can be viewed by clicking here.
Roster Moves: Outfielder Isaac Galloway has been transferred to Jacksonville from High-A Jupiter. In 89 contests for the Hammerheads this season, the 23-yearold has accumulated a .271 average (94-347), adding five homers and 40 RBI. Galloway was a Florida State League Midseason All-Star, and led the Hammerheads in hits home runs and RBI at the time of his promotion to the Suns. Galloway was selected by the Marlins in the eighth round of the 2008 MLB Draft out of Los Osos High School (Calif.).
Canha Can't Stop: Mark Canha continues to do what he wants at the plate, he won't stop. With multi-hit games in both games of last night's doubleheader, Canha has hit safely in his last five games at the plate and has hits in 14 of his last 20 at-bats, one of the most dominant stretches you'll see for a Southern League hitter during the 2013 season. Over his last 10 games, Canha is hitting .459 (17-for-37) with three homers, 10 RBI, and four doubles. Canha, who hit .230 in June, is now hitting .379 in July with three homers and 12 RBI in 19 games played.
Dietrich Hitless in Return to Suns: Second baseman Derek Dietrich went a combined 0-for-6 at the plate in last night's doubleheader in Montgomery, striking out three times. Dietrich was added to the Suns roster from the Major League Miami Marlins on Monday, and in the big leagues was hitting .214 with nine homers and 16 RBI. Dietrich began the season with the Jacksonville Suns, and earned his first promotion to the Marlins on May 8, collecting his first big league hit later that day in San Diego. This series is also a homecoming for Dietrich, having played with the Montgomery Biscuits last season as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays organization.
Gutierrez Gone: Chris Gutierrez connected on his first home run in over a year during the first game of the doubleheader in Montgomery. Gutierrez hit a solo homer completely out of the Riverwalk Stadium over the left field wall beyond the train tracks, a solo shot off Michael Colla in the sixth inning of the game Jacksonville lost 6-1. It was the first homer for Gutierrez since July 4, 2012 at Tennessee, and his fourth with the Jacksonville Suns over the past three years. Gutierrez has 14 career homers in 840 games played, and last night's start in left field for game two of the doubleheader was also his first ever start in the outfield.
