Alex Buchholz earns second trip to Triple-A
MIDLAND, TEXAS (JULY 30, 2013) - Frisco RoughRiders third baseman Alex Buchholz is heading back to the Triple-A Round Rock Express. There is no corresponding roster move at this time, and the Frisco roster is now at 24 active players.
Buchholz, 25, spent 13 games with the Express in May in first ever promotion to Triple-A. As a Pacific Coast League hitter, he batted .313 with eight of his 14 hits going for extra bases, including two home runs. In 79 games with the RoughRiders this season, Buchholz hit .279 with 13 homers. Combined between both levels, Buchholz has clubbed 23 doubles, 15 home runs, and 48 RBI-all career highs. The former Delaware Blue Hen won Texas League Player of the Week for the week of June 10-16, posting a league-best .478 batting average with two home runs, two doubles, and five RBI.
Frisco's roster is now at 24 active players, one below the Texas League limit.
The RoughRiders play Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. in Midland against the RockHounds for the middle game of a three-game series. Frisco returns home on Thursday, August 1, 2013 to host San Antonio at 7:05 pm at Dr Pepper Ballpark, and fans may purchase tickets for either game by visiting www.RidersBaseball.com or by calling (972) 731-9200.
