Josh Hader Traded to Houston Astros

Part of Bud Norris to the Orioles deal

Salisbury, MD - Delmarva Shorebirds left-handed pitcher Josh Hader has been traded to the Houston Astros as part of the deal that sends Bud Norris from the Astros to the Orioles. Former Shorebirds infielder (2009) LJ Hoes has also been traded to the Astros as part of the same deal.

Hader, 19, made 17 starts for the Shorebirds and went 3-6 with a 2.65 ERA, fifth best in the South Atlantic League. In 85 innings pitched, he allowed just 67 hits. The South Atlantic League batted just .215 against Hader.

The Orioles 19th round selection in 2012 was the lone representative for the Shorebirds in 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game. Hader went 3-2 with a 1.94 ERA in the first half of the year. 

Hader leads the Orioles farm system in ERA (2.65) and ranks second in opponent batting average (.215).

Hoes, 23, played for the Shorebirds in 2009. In 119 games played, he batted .260 with 47 RBIs.

The Orioles acquired Bud Norris from the Astros. Norris is 6-9 with a 3.93 ERA for the Astros this season.
