Gigante Voted Best Mascot in California League
SAN JOSE, CA- MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League BaseballTM, announced this morning that San Jose Giants' mascot Gigante has been voted the Best Mascot in the California League. With his victory, he now advances to the Championship round where he will compete for the title of "Best Mascot in Minor League Baseball" against 13 other mascots, representing each league, from across the country. Voting for the second round begins today and runs through 9:00 AM PST Thursday, August 8.
"The San Jose Giants want to thank our tremendous fans for voting Gigante the Best Mascot in the California League," said Juliana Paoli, San Jose Giants Chief Marketing Officer. "The Championship round of Mascot Mania is going to be an intense battle amongst all the league winners. It's time now to show all of professional baseball our support for Gigante by bringing the title of Best Mascot in Minor League Baseball to San Jose."
How to vote:
- Online - Fans can see photos, video and information on all 14 remaining mascots and vote for their favorite by clicking here. Fans will once again have the ability to vote an unlimited number of times through the online ballot. This means fans can vote for Gigante as many times as they please! Fans can also enter the MiLB.com Mascot Mania Sweepstakes by clicking here for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including subscriptions to MLB.TV and MiLB.TV, in addition to mascot-themed prize packs.
- Twitter - In the Championship round, fans can again vote for Gigante via Twitter by tweeting the hashtag #MascotMania and including @SJGiants and @MiLB in the tweet. Retweets count as well, so fans should keep an eye out for tweets about Gigante and retweet!
