Raptors Coach Jay Triano at Nat Wednesday

Former SFU Grad to throw out First Pitch on Canada Day
June 30, 2009
(Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - The Vancouver Canadians will have Toronto Raptors Head Coach Jay Triano throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1st at 1:05pm.

Triano made a name for himself with the Simon Fraser University Basketball playing with the National Program before becoming a highly touted coach at the international level. Triano was hired four years back by Sam Mitchell and the Toronto Raptors before Mitchell was eventually let go by GM Brian Colangelo.

Triano was given the head coaching position with the Raptors on an interim basis throughout the end of last season. Shortly after the end of the 2008 season, Colangelo removed the 'interim' title from Triano's title and signed the former SFU standout to a new three-year deal.

When the ink had dried, Triano became the first ever Canadian-born Head Coach of an NBA Franchise in league history.

Join us as we welcome home one of Canada's true success stories as Jay Triano arrives at 'The Nat' on Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1st at 1:05pm
