STL Shane Robinson joins Springfield this weekend

Springfield, MO - The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that Cardinals OF Shane Robinson will join the Springfield Cardinals on a Rehab Assignment at Hammons Field this Friday through Sunday.

In addition to the great lineup of promotions this weekend, don't miss the big league outfielder make his return to Hammons Field as the Cardinals take on Midland for the three-game series. Robinson, 28, has played 65 games with the Cardinals this season, batting .263 with two home runs and 12 RBIs. After debuting in St. Louis on May 7, 2009, he spent the majority of the 2012 campaign with the big Cards, compiling a .253 average with three homers, 16 RBIs and 20 runs scored through 102 games.

The primary bat off the bench, the Tampa, Florida native led all MLB rookies with 11 pinch-hits in a team-high 48 pinch appearances last year. Playing in his first career big league postseason in 2012, Robinson walked and scored a run in Game 5 of the Division Series against the Washington Nationals, before logging an RBI groundout during the League Championship Series against the San Francisco Giants.

A 5th round pick by the Cardinals out of Florida State University in 2006, Robinson split the 2008 campaign between Springfield and Memphis. That year, he hit .352 with four home runs, 17 doubles and 32 RBIs in 63 games at Hammons Field before being promoted to the Redbirds.

The series with Midland and Shane Robinson's Rehab Assignment continue on Saturday with the Mercy Texas League Championship Dry Fit T-Shirt Giveaway for 2,500 fans. First Pitch is 6:09pm with gates opening at 5:09pm.

The homestand wraps up on Sunday with the final game featuring Shane Robinson, along with the Maria's Mexican Restaurant Shelby Miller Bobblehead Giveaway for 2,500 fans. Sunday's game is also a Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Sunday with a free ice cream party for kids before the game, and then all kids can run the bases after the game. First Pitch is 6:09pm, gates open at 5:09pm.
